On February 26, 2025, AKTI and The Cyprus Institute organized the 2nd TERRASAFE Workshop in Peristerona, Cyprus. Local farmers, Department of Agriculture representatives, the Agricultural Research Institute, and local authorities gathered to familiarize themselves with the newly developed TERRASAFE desertification mapping app, explore TERRASAFE’s innovations to combat desertification, and discuss their involvement throughout the project.

📢 key conclusions:
✔️ Solutions need to be tailored to Cyprus’ specific challenges, particularly soil organic matter decline and water scarcity
✔️ Best agricultural practices for soil quality and water management were recommended
✔️ Strong willingness of farmers to participate in TERRASAFE desertification mapping and experiments
✔️ Ongoing interest from stakeholders in actively engaging throughout the project
