What an exciting internship week it’s been!

Last week, AKTI had the pleasure of hosting 7 university students from across Europe as part of the RESIsles internship!

We brought together young, passionate minds from Serbia, Spain, Moldova, Romania, Hungary, and the Czech Republic to explore topics like sustainability, climate change, and active citizenship. Here’s a look at their journey:

✅ Kicked off with the RESIsles Co-Creation Café, brainstorming ways to boost youth participation in climate action.

✅ Engaged in a thought-provoking Q&A with EU Commissioner for Fisheries & Oceans, Dr. Costas Kadis, discussing EU marine conservation policies.
✅ Shared powerful stories about how climate change is impacting their home countries.
✅ Took part in a presentation led by AKTI at the International School of Paphos, where they discussed climate action with 150 students (aged 12-14).
✅ Participated in a beach cleanup in Larnaca, where AKTI provided a demonstration on microplastic and macrolitter sampling, while exploring Cyprus’s beautiful marine ecosystems.
✅ Had a lot of fun, and they’re probably still thinking about those Cypriot tahini pies they loved.

A warm thank you to our interns for bringing their energy, creativity, and enthusiasm to AKTI. 💙
